Based on multiple confirmed reports, I can confirm that Dallas Baptist University will leave C-USA for the new and revamped PAC-12, but only for baseball. I heard murmurs of this happening early last week but did not give it much thought or attention away from what I was doing at the time.
Dallas Baptist will join Louisiana Tech as another school leaving the C-USA for another conference, with LT joining the Sun Belt in the 2026 school year. This will be DBU's second conference move in the last three years, having spent a season in the WAC and best known for being an independent before that.
So, what does this mean now for the C-USA, which has been gutted over the last few years, losing schools like Florida Atlantic and Alabama-Birmingham to the American Conference, and now losing two well-regarded baseball powerhouses to other conferences. The conference recently just added Missouri State and Delaware, which will make some nice additions, but losing two schools that are perennial mainstays in the NCAA tournament is something to watch from here on.
For Dallas Baptist and the PAC-12, this will be the seventh baseball team in the revamped conference (Colorado State and Boise State currently do not have baseball teams) and this will help the conference get an automatic bid for the NCAA Tournament when they all officially join in the coming years. DBU has made it to the NCAA Tournament for the last eleven seasons one was staged and will bolster the already revamped PAC-12, joining Texas State and venerable mainstay Oregon State.
