Tuesday was another battle for the Auburn Tigers, as they took on the first-place team in the ACC, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Both teams came into the game ranked in the Top 25, but both suffered series sweeps this past weekend.

Georgia Tech came in with one of the best offensive lineups in the country, boasting Drew Burress, Kyle Lodise, and Alex Hernandez. Auburn took down the Yellow Jackets earlier this month in Atlanta in a back-and-forth offensive affair, 9-8. Tonight was much different, as the only run came in the 2nd, on a bases loaded walk.

Christian Chatterton got the nod on the mound for his third straight midweek start. Chatterton was lights out, dominating the Yellow Jacket lineup. He pitched four scoreless innings with no hits allowed, striking out six, and walking three. The bullpen trio that relieved Christian were John Armstrong, Carson Myers, and Cam Tilly. Each of them also did not allow any runs from the Yellow Jackets, giving up only two hits collectively. The pitching staff was not the only big story line of the night, as the Tigers offense dubiously stranded an astounding 15 runners on base. With leaving that many, the pitchers fortunaely picked them right up, giving the Georgia Tech club their first shutout of the season.

With the win, Auburn improves to 28-13, while Georgia Tech drops their fifth in a row and sits 29-12. The Tigers also picked up their 13th ranked win on Tuesday night.

Auburn will stay at home this weekend, as Mississippi State comes to town. Georgia Tech will play host to Virginia this weekend, hoping to get the bats back hot and move back into the win column.
