SEC Tournament results: W, 4-1 vs. Missouri; L, 15-10 vs. Tennessee

Record: 41-16

Finishing ninth in the conference doesn’t sound as bad as it might when you play in the SEC. For the second time in the lat three years they finished with 40 or more wins and a winning conference record. Before 2023, the last time both of these things had happened was in 2006.

Everything went as hoped for Alabama this year as they finally were able to keep their starting pitching healthy.

Even though they finished 14th in the conference with an ERA of 5.00, their main arms were solid this year, led by the emergence of Riley Quick in the weekend rotation. He finished with a 3.54 ERA in 56 innings with 64 strikeouts and might be a day 1 pick in the upcoming MLB Draft.

Zane Adams had an up-and-down season but finished with 7 wins and there the most innings of any Alabama pitcher during the regular season.

And Carson Ozmer was a first-team All-SEC selection with a 2.97 ERA and 16 saves.

Justin Lebron got off to an unbelievable start and looked like the frontrunner to win the Golden Spikes award, but he scuffled during SEC play.

Instead, it was Kade Snell who led the charge offensively hitting .374 overall and .356 in conference games.

Transfer Richie Bonomolo had a bing season, but fellow transfers Bryce Fowler and Jason Torres didn’t give the offense the lift Rob Vaughn was hoping for.

What’s next

The Crimson Tide are on the bubble to host an NCAA Regional as they try to reach a super regional for the second time in three years, and the College World Series for the first time since 1999.

For that to happen, they’ll need more contributions in the lineup from Fowler, Torres, and Will Hodo along with Lebron playing the role of Superman in big spots.

They have the arms to get it done with Quick, Adams, Tyler Fay, Ozmer, and Matthew Heiberger.

Head coach Rob Vaughn has the team on a trajectory that will eventually break their College World Series draught, and this year team has the ability to make it happen.
